Call for applications: Sustained Training in Aging and HIV Research (STAHR) Program

Sustained Training in Aging and HIV Research (STAHR) Program

This program aims to develop promising clinical and translational scientists into high quality independently-funded researchers whose long-term careers will make a lasting contribution to the area of HIV and aging mental health research. The STAHR program is aimed at clinical and translational post-doctoral fellows and junior faculty from across the United States, with previous training in either aging or HIV research, but interested in gaining expertise in the intersection of these two factors. Four new scholars will be selected every year.  STAHR scholars will attend a 4-week summer institute during their first year and an annual 3-day workshop at the University of California San Diego for 3 years. There will also be a number of remote training opportunities available to scholars during the 3 years of the program.

Application deadline: February 15, 2017

Eligibility: Applicants must be post-residency fellows, post-doctoral fellows, or junior faculty members (holding no higher than an Assistant Professor rank position) with a clinical or translational research background and prior training in aging or HIV research. Scholars may not have previously obtained a substantial NIH independent research award as PI, including being PIs of a Career Development award. U.S. citizenship or permanent U.S. residency is required. Candidates with a background in aging research and those of underrepresented backgrounds are especially encouraged to apply.
