About the CFAR

Harvard University Center for AIDS Research

The Harvard University Center for AIDS Research (HU CFAR) provides research, education and training opportunities to HU CFAR members across Harvard University and its affiliates through services that are in direct response to member needs.

The goals of the HU CFAR stem from twenty five years of commitment to AIDS research, education, and patient care. Areas of study by NIH-funded HU CFAR investigators include molecular virology, pathogenesis, host immune responses, epidemiology, treatment, vaccines, and prevention. The HU CFAR strives to achieve its goals by:

  • Creating synergistic multidisciplinary collaborations among the diverse HU CFAR affiliated HIV/AIDS researchers and their trainees.
  • Promoting innovative research capable of more effectively addressing key HIV/AIDS related research questions.
  • Attracting, engaging, supporting and mentoring the next generation of early career scientists into HIV/AIDS research.

Executive Committee

The HU CFAR Executive Committee is composed of multi-disciplinary HIV researchers representing each of Harvard’s affiliated institutions.

NIH CFAR Mission

The Centers for AIDS Research (CFAR) program at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) provides administrative and shared research support to synergistically enhance and coordinate high quality AIDS research projects.

CFARs accomplish this through core facilities that provide expertise, resources, and services not otherwise readily obtained through more traditional funding mechanisms.
