Presenter: Cordelia Manickam, DVM, PhD, Duke University
After obtaining her veterinary medicine degree in India, Cordelia Manickam did her PhD at The Ohio State University, where she studied viral and vaccine immunity against porcine respiratory viruses. She shifted gears upon moving to postdoctoral fellowship and later as Staff Scientist at HMS/BIDMC working with Dr. Reeves where she developed common marmoset model as a surrogate animal model for hepaciviral infection and studied the role of NK cells in SIV infection. Currently, as Assistant Professor at Duke University, Cordelia continues to study innate cellular immune responses in SIV/HIV infection and associated co-morbidities.
