The Harvard University CFAR is forming a Basic & Translational Science Steering Committee to chart a strategic direction and guide implementation of activities that engage and support lab-based HIV researchers at Harvard and its affiliated institutions. As a first step, we are soliciting for senior NIH-funded investigators to co-chair this Steering Committee. The Co-Chairs will receive salary and administrative support from the CFAR. We aim to form this Steering Committee as soon as possible, so submit nominations or self-nominations by March 14, 2023 to Mark Ingaciola at mark_ingaciola@harvard.edu. Please include your CV and a short cover letter (approximately 1 page) outlining your vision and qualifications.
The role of the Co-Chairs will be to:
- Select members and lead regular meetings of the Basic & Translational Science Steering Committee;
- Promote development of Scientific Working Groups, Scientific Programs and CFAR-sponsored symposia focused on fundamental HIV science;
- Engage additional Harvard basic science investigators in CFAR activities and promote funding through the Developmental & Mentoring Core of early-stage investigators doing basic science research;
- Meet regularly with HU CFAR leadership to provide input;
- Represent the Harvard basic science community on the CFAR Executive Committee.
Self-nominations and/or nominations of strong candidates are welcome!
Note: If you are interested in serving on the Basic & Translational Science Steering Committee but not in the Co-Chair role, please indicate your interest by emaling Mark Ingaciola. We will share the list of interested investigators with the chairs selected to lead the Steering Committee.
