2024 AFRICA HEALTH CONFERENCE REPORT: “Mapping Changemakers Transforming Health in Africa”

The conference held on the 23rd and 24th of February 2024 exceeded expectations, drawing a total of 532 attendees (300 online and 232 in-person over the two days). 

Many of the distinguished speakers flew from different parts of the world to simply be in-person with the attendees and participate in the panel discussions. Some of the distinguished guests included:

  • H.E. Yolanda Awel Deng – Minister of Health in the Republic of South Sudan
  • Dr. Obinna Onyekwena – Deputy Director, Infectious Diseases Advocacy at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation 
  • Dr. Moustafa Abdalla – Senior Health Economist at the World Bank
  • Nafisa Jiwani – Managing Director at the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC)
  • Dr. Stavros Nicolaou – Aspen Pharmacare Group’s Senior Executive
  • Prof. Ruth L. Okediji – Jeremiah Smith. Jr, Professor of Law at Harvard Law School
  • Dr. Salim S. Abdool Karim – Director of the Centre for the AIDS Programme of Research in South Africa (CAPRISA)
  • Prof. Padmashree Gehl Sampath – Chief Executive Officer of the African Pharmaceutical Technology Foundation
